The Department of Political Science and Public Affairs at Seton Hall University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in the fall semester in 2025, and pending budgetary approval.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We seek candidates with scholarly and teaching interests in American politics. Ideally, the candidate’s work will focus on contemporary questions associated with political and economic inequality. Preference will be given to applicants with proficiency in quantitative methods, and who have teaching and scholarship interests in one or more areas of need in our political science program, such (i) social justice, (ii) race, ethnicity, and politics, (iii) gender and politics, and/or (iv) sexuality and politics.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Political Science

Tenure-track faculty at Seton Hall teach three courses per semester and are expected to publish actively, pursue grant-funded research, and perform service appropriate to their rank and experience at the Department, College, and University levels. Candidates should have peer-reviewed publications, or show clear promise of peer-reviewed research publication, in American Politics.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of political science courses. Teaching expectations include the ability to offer a core course in American politics, an introductory political science methods course in formal theory/quantitative analysis, and other courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization within American politics.

Salary Grade:

FA01 - Faculty
