The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Seton Hall University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2025.

The 16 full-time faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have interests spanning the entire field and we value high-quality teaching, scholarship and service. We are offering graduate (Ph.D., M.S.), accelerated B.S.-M.S., and several undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry programs, including an ACS-certified B.S. in chemistry.

Seton Hall University is located in South Orange, New Jersey, 14 miles from New York City. It is the oldest Catholic diocesan institution of higher education in the United States and is home to about 6,300 undergraduate and 4,700 graduate students. A vibrant and culturally diverse community, Seton Hall pursues academic excellence and ethical development in a collaborative environment and prepares its students to be servant leaders in their professional and community lives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The major responsibility will be teaching introductory chemistry courses that may include but are not limited to: General Chemistry, and the associated labs. The teaching load will be 12 credits per academic semester, and the position may be renewable depending on performance and departmental need.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, with demonstrated with a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Experience and interest in teaching and improving the undergraduate laboratory experience is a plus.
