Responsibilities: - Attend supervision meetings & trainings (MANDATORY)
-Serve as tutors/mentors for program’s participants and assist with college preparedness tasks
-Serve as a positive role model for students
-Document Mentee and Mentor logs in a timely manner
-Provide college readiness workshops
-Commitment to supporting positive youth development
-Efficient time management
-Provide academic advisement to scholars
-Assist with the collection of project services data (i.e. attendance log, phone log etc.)

Qualifications:

  • -MUST be Work-Study Eligible
    -Ability to work two (2) Saturdays out of the month for three (3) or more hours
    -At least 2 years of post-secondary education completed (sophomore, junior, senior).
    -Minimum of 1 year of experience working with high school under served student populations in some capacity
    -Experience mentoring/tutoring children and teenagers
    -3.0 GPA or better in tutorial subject (s)
    -Excellent computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office)
    -Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Ability to tutor in high school Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, US/World History
    -Must be reliable
    -Able to develop positive rapport with students and interact well with students of diverse backgrounds
    -Attention to detail
    -Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    -Serve as a positive role model for students
    -Have a positive attitude
    -Commitment to the growth and development of students
    -Patient, caring, and creative
    -Excellent judgment; ability to identify problems and work quickly to find solutions
    -Flexible, adaptive, and a team player
