The Executive Director, Associate Dean serves as the chief administrator and strategic leader of the Center for Innovation in Teaching Excellence, a comprehensive teaching and learning support center at Mississippi State University. This person will provide visionary and strategic leadership for campus-wide initiatives related to teaching excellence, curriculum development, and instructional innovation. This position is responsible for fostering a culture that values outstanding and engaged teaching across all disciplines, ensuring that CITE initiatives are aligned with the university’s strategic goals for student success. This newly formed center integrates the Center for Teaching and Learning and the instructional design team from the Center for Distance Education to provide holistic support for teaching excellence across all modalities including face-to-face, online, hybrid, clinical, and continuing education. The Executive Director role includes championing innovation in pedagogy, educational technology, and faculty development to meet the evolving needs of modern learners. Additionally, the Associate Dean of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies position provides leadership that supports faculty in program development, assessment, and continuous improvement / research initiatives, grant development, and scholarly productivity. This position will also hold a faculty appointment within the College of Professional and Continuing Studies.

The Department of Chemistry at Mississippi State University is seeking a full-time 12-month instrument manager for our Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy facility (Research Scientist). The successful candidate will supervise the maintenance of assigned NMR instrumentation in the Chemistry department, as well as the training of users. Instruments include four existing NMR systems (300, 500, 600, and 800 MHz), a helium recovery system, and an X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) system. The candidate will handle mail-in samples, billing, and work with remote users as part of their responsibilities. The successful candidate will also train students on basic NMR use, including a one-credit introductory class for new graduate students, as assigned. The successful candidate may be assigned to assist with managing other analytical research instrumentation based on their interests and expertise. Although an individual with a PhD in analytical chemistry/biomedical sciences is highly desired, candidates with a master’s degree and relevant experience are eligible to apply. Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills are a must.

Specific responsibilities of the Manager of Instructional Media Technology include supervision of Instructional Media Technology personnel as well as active participation in the activities and functions of the unit. The manager will be expected to actively work with the Director of Information Technology Infrastructure, other ITS managers, and personnel to plan, implement, maintain, and support the instructional media technology infrastructure of the University.

The Mass Spec Facility Manager supervises the maintenance and training for the liquid chromatography (LC-MS) and gas chromatography (GC-MS) instrumentation in the Chemistry department, including a high-resolution Bruker LC-MS/MS to be acquired in 2024 as part of an NSF Major Research Instrumentation project. They also train students on basic LC-MS use, and assists with managing other analytical research instrumentation based on their expertise.
