As a member of the Office of Access and Success, the Coordinator for Thrive Scholars Program is responsible for serving as an advocate and resource for students by providing individualized support and coaching for students experiencing challenges, including, but not limited to, financial aid, student life, advising academic support, and basic needs. Reporting to the Executive Director of Access and Success, this individual is responsible for evaluating and coordinating gaps in support and assisting students in accessing resources that will contribute to their well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serves as the program lead for THRIVE students within the Office of Access & Success by providing high touch points for vulnerable students throughout the year, including students who were previously and are currently a part of the foster care system, an emancipated minor, experiencing homelessness (or at risk of homelessness), had both parents pass away, or any combination of these issues.
2. Serves as a point person for the THRIVE Scholars Program, ensuring that students in this program receive academic support resources and financial resources for degree completion.
3. Provide holistic services and programmatic support for students experiencing life stressors and encountering barriers that impede success by coordinating prevention, intervention, and support efforts.
4. Responsible for working closely with campus partners, including the Dean of Students Office, Housing and Residence Life, Counseling Center, Financial Aid, International Institute, Office of Student Success, and other units necessary for student support.
5. Develop appropriate relationships with key community entities and stakeholders to aid in student success and support.
6. Develop specific strategies for identifying student challenges and providing intrusive interventions to deal with those challenges.
7. Provide ongoing follow-up with students to ensure continuity of support and evaluate successes.
8. Assist students daily in solving problems and making referrals when necessary to meet their needs.
9. Maintain an updated directory of community resources available to students.
10. Assist the Executive Director in preparing annual reports and weekly reports on student cases.
11. Other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or field/discipline related to the position
Experience: 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

2. Experience working with students in crisis
3. Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
4. Knowledge of care/case management
5. Ability to lead high-impact initiatives from conception to implementation
6. Independent, self-starter with a strong work ethic
7. Excellent verbal and written skills
8. Excellent presentation skills
9. Demonstrated strong commitment to serving students with diverse backgrounds

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly
all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions
influence priorities; difficulty to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a
few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position;
involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotion issues or stress on a
regular basis.
3. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with
hands.
4. Ability to occasionally work weekends and long hours.
