This part-time (50%) position provides online training to transitioning military members, Veterans, Reserve and National Guard members, and Military Spouses interested in starting a business.

Salary Grade:  13

Department Profile:

Provide online training to veterans, service disable veterans, reservists, national-guard members and transitioning service members interested in starting a business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Instructs the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus; relates instructions to personal entrepreneurial or business experience.
2. Counsels and advises B2B RR program participants on developing their business plans and financial projections. Provides prompt and encouraging written feedback to participants.
3. Implements evaluation for outcomes assessments.
4. Maintains records, metrics, and files of clients.
5. Identifies needs and available resources for clients including pulling market research reports.
6. Consults with a variety of outside agencies to assist clients with obtaining objectives.
7. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
AND
1 year experience working as a business counselor, advisor and/or instructor

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Veteran or Veteran Spouse
2. Familiarity with the Small Business Administration resource partners, and the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP).
3. Knowledge of entrepreneurial and venture capital concepts, including preparation of business plan narrative and financial projections
4. Knowledge of loan process, including SBA Guaranteed loan programs
5. Experience with small business and small business programs.
6. Direct experience owning and operating a business.
7. Experience and familiarity with Business Model Canvas teaching methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2) Computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation
3) Excellent interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Position may have limited travel.
3. Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position.
4. Job frequently requires walking, witting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
5. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
6. Classes are as early as 11:00 am Central or as late as 7:30 pm. This particular opening is to teach online classes at 7:00 PM central on Tuesday and Thursdays – may be subject to change.
