Position Function:
The School of Human Sciences at Mississippi State University is seeking an outstanding candidate for an Instructor in Early Childhood Development. This instructor role will have a primary responsibility of teaching undergraduate child development courses, with a particular focus on early childhood pedagogy. In addition to teaching and developing (as needed) innovative undergraduate courses, the successful candidate will also advise undergraduate students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to collaboration and innovation in a cross-disciplinary environment.

Department Profile:
The School of Human Sciences provides education, research, and outreach programs related to human interaction and relationships, early childhood, child life, youth, adult and family studies, and teaching education in Family and Consumer Sciences and Agricultural Education. In addition, selected School programs focus on commerce, marketing, and using technology for problem-solving and designing programs and projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach innovative undergraduate courses in child development. The courses assigned will be based on relevant experience and prior coursework.
• Provide effective leadership and supervision of field experiences.
• Mentor and advise undergraduate students, fostering a culture of academic excellence.
• Engage in collaborative initiatives within the department, across the university, and with external partners.
• Serve on university, college, and program committees.
• Experience in an early childhood program, agency (Head Start), or public school.
• Contribute to creating a collegial and inclusive academic environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Science, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field.
Experience: Experience teaching in-person and virtual undergraduate courses.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):
N/A.
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more of the following: CFLE; Teaching license; CCLS; Child Advocacy Studies Instructor; FORECAST Facilitator; Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner

• Demonstrated expertise in current child development best practices.
• Proven ability to collaborate and work collegially with peers and external partners.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
