This position will facilitate the execution and operational management of the SECURE Center's Functional Expert Areas team led by Mississippi State University. The Project Manager will coordinate the efforts of Mississippi State University's team within the national SECURE Center framework. Responsibilities include managing project timelines, coordinating the integration of expert areas, overseeing communication and collaboration across teams, and ensuring project objectives align with NSF guidelines.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates and manages project operations, including the scheduling and logistics of regular team meetings, stakeholder engagements, and regional co-design activities.
2. Develops and implements project management plans that ensure timely execution and quality standards.
3. Builds strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project goals.
4. Oversees the creation of communications material to effectively convey the project’s progress and successes.
5. Provides support and guidance to both graduate and undergraduate research assistants on project tasks and goals.
6. Manages the compilation of project reports and prepares updates on the project's status for the PI and the leadership team.
7. Ensures compliance with all research security protocols and NSF requirements.
8. Supports the development and implementation of training workshops, presentations, and co-designed activities.
9. Facilitates problem-solving sessions and conflict resolution among project team members.
10. Assists in maintaining accountability to the funding agency and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, administration, or a closely related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in a research or academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field.
• Experience in managing federally funded research projects or programs.
• Proven record of successful coordination in complex multi-disciplinary research projects.
• Experience with NSF projects or other federal research initiatives is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in research security, compliance, or related fields.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proven expertise in project management, including planning, executing, and tracking project performance.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• High degree of initiative and independent judgment with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in using modern project management tools and software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
• Skilled in facilitating online and in-person meetings and workshops.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and most work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; and meeting of deadlines key to position.
