Position Function:
The Coordinator, Disability Resource Center (DRC) provides direct services to students registered with the DRC, including assessment, advising, and referral in all matters related to accessibility to campus services. The Coordinator will have primary responsibility to meet with students to consider accommodations needed and to provide outreach to students, staff, and faculty on disability related matters.
Salary Grade: 14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct student access meetings, review clinical documentation, and determine disability status and need for accommodations
2. Develop, implement, and monitor accommodation plans with students and faculty; Maintain timely and accurate electronic student records.
3. Counsel students on rights and responsibilities regarding academic accommodations, departmental policies and procedures, and University policies.
4. Coordinate the administration of exams for students with disabilities, including scheduling testing rooms with appropriate accommodations; coordinating with faculty and staff to arrange exams pick-up/return, reserving testing rooms and computer labs as needed, and proctoring, reading, or scribing for students when staffing is needed.
5. Provide individual and group demonstrations on technology support tools.
6. Develop and facilitate workshops on executive functioning, academic skills, and disability related issues.
7. May train and supervise student office workers and assist in same for Graduate Assistants.
8. Monitor students' academic progress and make referrals to additional campus support services.
9. Attend and participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
10. Proficiently operate, trouble shoot, and train students and faculty on Assistive Technology used at the Disability Resource Center (DRC), e.g. Kurzweil 3000, Livescribe pens, Dragon dictation software, Zoomtext, Read & Write, GLEAN, and others. Create and upload assistive technology instructional videos to the webpage for the DRC.
11. Assist with ACCESS summer camp staffing, typically three days in June.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the associate director or the director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor’s degree Any degree area
Experience 1 year work experience with individuals who exhibit disabilities plus the education
or
Internship or volunteer work experience within a higher education disability office or a university testing center plus the education
or
1 year work experience in a testing center
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

3. Ability to understand and execute complex instructions.
4. Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to use a variety of database and spreadsheet programs.
6. Strong technological skills.
7. Comfortable with multi-tasking and meeting stringent deadlines.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. Requires limited lifting of files and records up to 25 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an indoor in a temperature-controlled facility.
2. Frequent externally imposed deadlines; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
3. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
