Coordinates the daily activities associated with the daily transactions for and additions to and deletions from equipment inventory, provides audit and training services to the university community.

Salary Grade:  14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in
positions allocated to this classification. The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude
those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment of the position.
• Supervises, trains and coordinates the duties and activities of the property assistants.
• Monitors the data entry into the MSU property system. All acquisition, deletion and change
transactions.
• Coordinates inventory reconciliations, data entry of inventory information, maintenance.
• Manages the process of closing monthly inventory reports; mails reports to the Office of the State
Auditor and coordinates dissemination of fixed asset reports to departments on a monthly basis.
• Interacts with, coordinates, and serves as liaison between state-wide university employees and
other state agencies for property needs.
• Assists with training of university employees in the proper procedures and responsibilities toward
fixed asset-related topics.
• Maintains compliance with department procedures, university polices and state law regarding fixed
asset reporting.
• Performs departmental equipment audits conducted by the Office of the State Auditor.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
Three to five years related experience.
Ability to operate computer and related office equipment.
Must possess a valid MS driver’s license.
-orAny equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of
Human Resources Management.

ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Inventory-related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of accounting principles and inventory management.
Proficiency in using BANNER.
Strong data entry and computer skills.
Effective communication and coordination.
Ability to supervise and train a team.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time without a break.

Required to stand; walk; use hands to handle equipment items; reach with arms and hands; stoop, bend, or kneel; talk and hear.

Employees in this position are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.

The noise level is moderate.
