Position Function:
To install, maintain and repair complex security systems, facilities, and related equipment.
Salary Grade: 12

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in planning, research, and implementation of security and safety procedures.
2. Operate, repair and install basic security and specialty systems such as automatic door systems and smoke detectors.
3. Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble a variety of security equipment following established procedure.
4. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all safety and electrical codes. Inspect assigned jobs for compliance to the NEC and University standards.
5. Provide technical information, advice, operating instructions, and similar information to supporting skilled trades employees.
6. Provide assistance to Electricians as needed.
7. Responsible for after hours and weekend security.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision
Received: Building Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisor.
Given: May provide guidance and training to student workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two to four years in commercial and industrial security work.
3. Valid driver’s license.
4. Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
5. Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trade.
6. Ability to exercise tact and discretion with customers and the public.
7. Ability to move, lift or carry up and occasionally over 75 lbs.
