The Coordinator position provides support to the Office of Admissions and Student Success in the College of Veterinary Medicine and serves as the first point of contact for prospective and current students.
Primary roles of the position are to:
(1) advise and recruit undergraduate students to MSU with the goal of attending veterinary school
(2) counsel and support prospective and current students on student support services and scholarship opportunities, and
(3) coordinate and assist with admissions functions and student success activities and events for prospective and current students

Salary Grade:  14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with academic and administrative units in the Colleges and the MSU campus (MSU Career Center, Undergraduate Admissions, Parking Services) regarding admissions events, procedures, policies, and related matters.
2. Manage and maintain a portfolio of DVM and early entry admissions applications, approximately 1600 applicants annually.
3. Maintain and develop a robust communication plan (e.g. emails, newsletter, social media, mailouts) that deliver content to prospective and current students through multiple channels and mediums
a. Coordinate a variety of student recruitment and enrollment initiatives, such as development of recruitment materials (through collaboration with the CVM communications and marketing team), recruitment events, and managing groups of veterinary students involved with activities
4. Assist with recruiting mail outs timelines and distribution
5. Maintain relations with high schools, academies, community/ junior colleges and other universities.
6. Address and refer inquiries and informational requests from faculty, students, and parents or guardians.
7. Coordinate and manage admissions events and activities, including campus tours, informational sessions, and recruitment events with prospective students and orientation for current students, including EEP student orientation.
8. Assist with the recruitment, selection and mentoring of CVM Envoys
9. Contribute to the development of student success programs designed to support student engagement and success, including orientation, mentorship programs, financial literacy workshops, and overall wellness initiatives tailored to the needs of veterinary students
10. Assist with CVM outreach programs including Open House and other CVM programs (i.e. VetAspire, Vet Camp)
11. Other responsibilities deemed appropriate (e.g., grantsmanship for recruiting and scholarships)
12. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Life Sciences, Natural Resources, Education or other degrees related to this position

2 years of experience in student affairs/admissions

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and additional years of admissions and student affairs experience beyond the minimum

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• University level recruiting experience and demonstrated success.
• Experience advising at the undergraduate level and above
• Proficient skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications including Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and Excel and shared documents or forms
• Familiarity with usage of Banner and CRM systems such as Slate
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience
• Independent self-starter and team player with strong work ethic.
• Ability to coordinate a wide variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work functions with attention to details
• Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Frequent- External and internal imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; some ability to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor; flexibility in work hours with some after hour and weekend work for activities.

Job frequently requires talking, sitting, hearing, and handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
