This position will work as a team member in Enterprise Information Systems at Mississippi State University. The Systems Analyst implements, maintains, and supports Information Systems to meet the University needs. This position supports the complete life cycle process of one or more ERP application systems.

Salary Grade:  17

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Enterprise Systems Analyst I
• Perform design, implementation, and upgrades of information systems to meet the business and user needs
• Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications, including application servers, associated hardware, endpoints, and databases
• Enhance and maintain computer systems and associated networks and write computer programs
• Translate highly technical specifications into clear non-technical requirements
• Define and coordinate the execution of testing procedures, and develop test cases to serve the overall quality assurance process
• Create and maintain documentation that describes programs, operating procedures, and installations, including, but not limited to internal knowledge base, solutions, and project updates
• Provide project leadership for functional work groups enabling them to stay on time and on task
• Assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of Ellucian products and integrating software to third party systems
• Monitor, track, and report project risks, issues, milestones, and work completed
• Stay updated on industry-wide changes, participate in technical user groups, and attend relevant training classes

Enterprise Systems Analyst II
• Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements
• Design database architecture to support new systems, coordinate and manage conversions to new systems and conduct user education of new systems
• Perform software configuration, implementation, integration, and maintenance for university information systems including vendor systems and university developed systems
• Lead technical projects by developing plans and providing status updates to managers
• Assist with office and staff development; coordinate and conduct training for user personnel
• Consult with administrators to gather information and evaluate procedures and business needs
• Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions based on analysis, system capabilities and available resources
• Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution. Any equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered.

Experience (yrs):
Enterprise Systems Analyst I - Six Years
Enterprise Systems Analyst II - Eight Years

Required Qualifications:

Enterprise Systems Analyst I
• Proven ability to assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions
• Previous experience with data modeling and/or developing systems in a Linux/Oracle environment using any or all of the following: C, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, Groovy, Spring, Hibernate, HTTP

Enterprise Systems Analyst II
• Knowledge and skill interviewing clients to understand their business needs and translate them into software specifications.
• Significant experience with all levels of the software development life cycle including requirements gathering, systems design, systems development/programming, testing, deployment, and maintenance of large enterprise systems

Preferred Qualifications:

Enterprise Systems Analyst I
• Work experience work in a higher education environment
• Working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner ERP functional/technical environment
• Demonstrated programming experience and knowledge with SQL databases; such as Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL
• Ability to program and provide system support in C, PageBuilder, Java, Perl, batch, Power/Shell, or other general-purpose programming languages
• Experience writing and programming APIs (Application Programmer Interfaces)
• Experience developing systems in Linux/Oracle environment
• Knowledge of development environment tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Subversion, Maven, and Ant
• Experience with Technolutions Slate for Student Success, including user administration, data imports/exports, query building, forms, rules, portals, and communications tools.
• Demonstrated ability to configure and optimize workflows and processes within the Slate environment to support student success initiatives (e.g., retention, advising, communications).
• Working knowledge of student information systems (SIS) such as Ellucian Banner and experience integrating it with Slate.
• Experience with data mapping and API/web services integration to support data exchange between Slate and institutional systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with functional teams (e.g., advising, enrollment, student affairs).
• Prior experience in a student success, retention, or enrollment management context is highly desirable.

Enterprise Systems Analyst II
• Six years of experience working in enterprise systems in the higher education environment
• Six years of experience working with Oracle SQL and related database analysis tools
• Extensive Experience with SQL and PL/SQL programming
• Strong programming and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for supporting multiple systems at the same time
• Experience with Technolutions Slate for Student Success, including user administration, data imports/exports, query building, forms, rules, portals, and communications tools.
• Demonstrated ability to configure and optimize workflows and processes within the Slate environment to support student success initiatives (e.g., retention, advising, communications).
• Working knowledge of student information systems (SIS) such as Ellucian Banner and experience integrating it with Slate.
• Experience with data mapping and API/web services integration to support data exchange between Slate and institutional systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with functional teams (e.g., advising, enrollment, student affairs).
• Prior experience in a student success, retention, or enrollment management context is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Enterprise Systems Analyst I
• Strong understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices associated with database maintenance and administration
• Excellent analytical skills

Enterprise Systems Analyst II
• At least two years of experience in higher education with demonstrated experience successfully implementing, maintaining, and supporting Ellucian Banner ERP systems for college/university clients
• Significant experience, knowledge, and skill analyzing business processes in multiple areas
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and developing touchpoints between enterprise and ancillary applications
• A highly developed understanding of web services, API’s, and other integration technologies
• Significant customer service experience
• Experience working in a team and project driven environment
