Provide administrative support in and coordinate the administrative function of a large and complex division, department or unit.

Department Profile:
The Department of Poultry Science Department is one of six stand-alone poultry science departments in the country and is housed in a new state of the art building accompanied by a 12-acre research farm adjacent to the main campus. Facilities include a feed mill, hatchery, layer facility, numerous broiler research houses, a BSL-2 live bird research facility, and a processing plant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks, including those of a confidential nature.
2. Manages the department and administrator’s calendar; coordinates logistics for departmental events, meetings, and functions.
3. Serves as the department’s human resources liaison and oversees payroll processing.
4. Processes departmental invoices and payments.
5. Answers incoming calls, directs them appropriately, takes messages, and provides general information to callers.
6. Evaluates and improves administrative practices such as recordkeeping systems, office workflows, and performance standards; stays current with trends in administrative operations.
7. Coordinates the collection and preparation of operating reports utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
8. Develops, implements, and maintains office procedures and policies aligned with the Department’s, College’s, Unit’s and University’s mission and goals.
9. Creates, organizes, and maintains files, records, databases, and other documentation; manages data and performs standard analysis and reporting tasks.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: Four (4) years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Substitution allowed:
Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed.
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
2. Experience in fund accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software packages.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
* No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
* No or very limited physical effort required.
* Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
