The Forest and Wildlife Research Center/College of Forest Resources, Mississippi State University is seeking to fill a 9 month, Tenure-track, fulltime, Assistant Professor Position with research, teaching and service responsibilities in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts.

Salary Grade:  UC

Department Profile:

One of three departments in the College of Forest Resources, the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts activities include undergraduate/graduate instructions, research and service programs in natural resources.

Area of Specialization:

Wood and other sustainable bioproducts properties, production, and enhancement

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Incumbent will be responsibile for developing and conducting a program of teaching, research, and service in the Sustainable Bioproducts Department and College of Forest Resources. Program area emphasis will be in building systems, mass timber, logistics, industrial engineering, or an affiliated area. The successful candidate will be expected to build a nationally recognized program, collaborate within the Department, College, and University as well as with external stakeholders; teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, assist in programmatic curriculum development, recruit undergraduate and/or graduate students, provide internal and external service and outreach, and perform other departmental and or collegiate responsibilities as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher learning in forest products, forest and/or natural resources, industrial engineering, forestry, or an allied scientific discipline as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Particular consideration will be given to candidate with expertise, experience, and/or high potential in the topics outlined above along with demonstrated experience in teaching, research, and/or service in forestry, natural resources, or related programming.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Incumbent should be adept with skills and abilities in classroom teaching, individual student mentoring, and academic research.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Physical requirements will be consistent with those associated with the incumbent's research and service program. Work to be performed in person, main campus, Starkville, MS.
