Position Function:
Plans and implements programs for Annual Giving, the Associate Director will assist the Director and Executive Director of Development in fulfilling the development-related mission of Mississippi State University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Carry portfolio of leadership level annual fund prospects. Make discovery calls and personal visits. Bridge the gap between annual gifts ($150+) and major gifts ($25,000+). Work closely with prospect research in discovering new donors to target for annual giving level gifts. Provide contact reports related to these visits in a timely manner. The position will require travel 30% of the time as well as night and weekends when necessary for events and donor outreach.
2. Work with the director on developing, executing, and evaluating special targeted campaigns, such as parent campaigns, faculty/staff campaigns and reunion giving campaigns. Track and report progress.
3. Collaborate with marketing and communication staff as they write and design collateral needed for special targeted campaigns and with information services to develop data queries to support them.
4. Execute the stewardship program for annual gifts. Demonstrate to donors the impact of their gift to improve retention and recruitment. Track and report progress.
5. Focus on specific university programs such as Compass Scholarship, a university-wide scholarship effort. Raise funds to meet the challenge for gifts issued by university leadership. Track and report progress.
6. Serve as the liaison between the alumni association and annual giving program. Strategically attend alumni events to promote annual gifts. Coordinate with alumni association to best partner on giving. Foster participation in the annual fund across campus.
7. Work with appropriate gift administration staff to market and proactively manage the Matching Gift Program. Organize and meet with alumni and friends that work within specific companies to market and promote annual gifts. Actively market to this segment.
8. Work closely with Director, Alumni Association, Communications Staff, Colleges and Ambassadors in the planning and execution of a yearly Hail State Giving Day.
9. Assist in the planning and coordination of other Foundation programs and activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Two years of related experience
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position. A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in sales, marketing, public relations, and/or fund raising
- Experience with database management
- A familiarity with Mississippi State University
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with university officials, faculty, prominent alumni and friends of Mississippi State University, i.e., multiple and varied constituencies
• Basic computer skills
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands
