Position Function:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Statistics, beginning as early as Spring 2026 with the option to postpone the start date to August 2026. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible renewal for a third year. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of MSU Statistics faculty. Interested candidates are encouraged to explore the webpage of tenured and tenure-track faculty to identify potential matches with their research interests. Strong applicants from all areas of Statistics are encouraged to apply; however, the greatest interest is for applicants with interest in one or more of the following topics: Computationally intensive methods in Statistics such as Count Time Series, Curve estimation, Environmental Statistics, Forensic Statistics, Stochastic Modelling, Survival Analysis, Functional Data Analysis, and Nonparametric Inference.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in research and teaching. The position comes with a 1+1 teaching load (6 credits per year).
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements for a postdoctoral position include a doctoral degree at the start date of the position with a preference for recent PhDs, and an interest in pursuing original research.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
