Position Function:
The Teacher Residency Coordinator will support the Mississippi Teacher Residency Program at MSU–Meridian. This position will be responsible for coordinating daily operations of the residency program, serving as the primary point of contact for teacher residents, mentors, faculty, and partner districts. The Coordinator will ensure compliance with program requirements, maintain accurate data and documentation, and assist with program evaluation, mentoring support, and district collaboration. Responsibilities will also include advising and assisting students, developing and maintaining partnerships with school districts, coordinating field experiences, and administering other activities as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily operations of the MTR program in collaboration with the degree program coordinator.
2. Coordinate recruitment activities, including outreach events, application processing, and candidate communication.
3. Support placement of residents in critical shortage area districts, working closely with district liaisons and school leaders.
4. Assist with scheduling induction camps, coursework, and professional development sessions.
5. Serve as the main point of contact for teacher residents and mentors.
6. Provide guidance to candidates regarding licensure exams, program requirements, and available supports.
7. Coordinate mentor training and professional development.
8. Track mentor stipends, candidate supports, and other residency-related expenditures.
9. Maintain detailed records of candidate enrollment, licensure progress, and assessment outcomes.
10. Support data collection and reporting to the Mississippi Department of Education and internal stakeholders.
11. Assist with preparation of annual and final reports, including program outcomes and evaluation summaries.
12. Serve as liaison between MSU faculty and partner school districts.
13. Support alignment of residency activities with district workforce needs.
14. Facilitate communication with district leaders, principals, and mentors regarding candidate performance and program goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• At least one of year of experience in an educational setting.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with university faculty, school districts, and community
partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in education or a related field.
• Experience in teacher preparation, residency programs, or K–12 education.
• Knowledge of Mississippi licensure requirements and assessment processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Educational Systems Knowledge – Understanding of teacher preparation pathways, Mississippi licensure requirements, and K–12 district structures.
2. Program Coordination – Strong organizational skills to manage timelines, field experiences, and grant compliance.
3. Advising and Mentorship – Ability to support, guide, and advise teacher candidates while fostering effective mentor–mentee relationships.
4. Communication and Collaboration – Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to engage effectively with faculty, school district leaders, and community partners.
5. Data and Technology Proficiency – Competence in maintaining accurate records, analyzing program data, and using Microsoft Office and related systems for reporting.
