Position Function:
In the Extension Center for Technology Outreach, the Extension Project Specialist is responsible for collaborating with other faculty in the development of curricula related to computer literacy and technology issues among a diverse population of children, adult, and senior citizens. The Extension Project Specialist should use advanced learning technologies such as online training modules and courses, webinars, video conferencing to reach Extension audiences and other Extension employees.
Salary Grade: 15

January 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide technology training and learning opportunities for Extension clientele through face-to-face contact, interactive video, on-line modules, webinars, and other emerging strategies.
2. Writing innovative curricula and developing web-based and printed content to be used in educating Extension internal and external clientele.
3. Lead efforts for monitoring and reporting impact of Center with respect to institutional effectiveness reporting.
4. Provide Zoom and Webinar support to other Extension Personnel.
5. Installation and support for digital signage.
6. Develop and provide support for online courses via the learning management system Canvas.
7. Interact with colleagues from other Extension services throughout the country; make presentations at local, state, regional, and national conferences.
8. Provide educational opportunities for internal and external clientele.
9. Work and support the mission of all program areas in the Extension Service including Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Government and Community Development.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an area related to Technology, Management/Business Information Systems, Agriculture Information Science and Education, or other related fields and 3 years of experience.
OR
-Master's Degree in an area related to Technology, Management/Business Information Systems, Agriculture Information Science and Education, or other related fields, plus one year experience.
Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed. When an applicant has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Windows 11, and related server versions.
2. Extensive knowledge of a broad range of software tools including Microsoft Office Professional, online applications, smart device apps, etc.
3. Experience and understanding of using various technology education methods for both in-person and distance education.
4. Experience and understanding of webinars, videoconferencing, development of online training modules.
5. Highly self-motivated and directed, with experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Some physical effort required including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Some in-state and out-of-state travel may be required.
