Reports to Asst Director & Fiscal Admin. Performs standard accounting functions such as cost analysis, reconciliation, posting, report preparation and budget monitoring. Analyzes financial and operating data and prepares management reports and financial statements.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. 1. Monitors revenue and expenses for departmental or unit accounts; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, university policy, and standard accounting procedures.
2. Constructs routine spreadsheet applications, prepares financial data, and generates reports.
3. Coordinates the preparation of regularly scheduled reports, analyses, studies, and financial information for local, state, federal and private funding sources.
4. Reviews expenditure, personnel, and purchasing documents for availability of funding, mathematical correctness, and compliance with university policy and state and federal funding requirements.
5. Analyzes, reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records; assists with budget development and special financial reports.
6. Prepares, reviews, and processes budget, revenue, expense, payroll, and related correcting entries.
7. Assists with instructing department members in unrestricted and restricted funding requirements and methods and assists with budget development.
8. Plans, organizes, directs and schedules operations and maintenance in functional areas of building services.
9. Handles all building reservations. Schedules events to ensure no conflicts with scheduling.
10. Handles all customer billing and bill processing. Calculates customer charges, invoicing customers, and ensuring payment is collected for those who use the Bost Conference Center.
11. Exercises oversight of ordering, use, storage, and security of supplies, tools, and equipment.
12. Insures facilities are kept in a clean, presentable, and operational condition.
13. Coordinates set-ups for events of MSU departments, student organizations and guests.
14. Collaborates with various internal and external departments/customers to effectively coordinate renovations, set-ups, repairs, maintenance, and building closures.
15. Conducts site evaluations as required.
16. Supervise, manage, and issue keys, access cards, and other items related to building access and security.
17. Compiles quarterly and annual building usage reports.
18. Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
19. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or other appropriate discipline.

Experience (yrs.): 1 year directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and university financial policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word specifically).
4. Knowledge of Crystal Reports.
5. Knowledge of Banner Human Resource and Finance modules.
6. Experience with developing database queries.
7. Knowledge of contracts and grants accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods, and applications.
2. Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
3. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
4. Account balancing and reconciling skills.
5. Ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.
6. Spreadsheet software skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
7. Knowledge of general accounting principles.
8. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
9. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
10. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
11. Demonstrated capabilities in communication and interpersonal skills.
12. Demonstrated organizational skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
