The intern will be responsible for some, but not all, after hours or emergency duties.
The intern will be expected to present at least one formal 30 minute college-wide seminar each year to the faculty, staff, and veterinary students related to oncology. Other less formal presentations, such as topic rounds, are required throughout the year. Additional regular activities include weekly journal clubs. Opportunities for participation in special projects, classes, and laboratories are also available. Internal funding and elective time for small clinical research projects is available.
The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine has a good track record placing interns into highly competitive residency positions. Along with placement in an ACVIM approved residency or high-level private practice environment, the goal of the internship is to foster and fine tune clinical expertise in client and referring veterinarian interactions, patient care, problem-oriented case management, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
