Position Function:
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance manager and QA team of the MS Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System (MVRDLS) performing or coordinating broad tasks, to support the lab operations and maintain AAVLD accreditation. Participate in the preparation of clinical pathology samples for shipping and support CWD sample preparation. This position collaborates as part of a team with lab personnel of the system’s four laboratories (MVRDL, PRDL, CVM-DLS, and ARDL), as well as with clients and stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform QA/QC duties and maintain QA/QC records required for AAVLD accreditation.
2. Work with section staff to review, update and approve SOP’s, forms and processes.
3. Assist staff on the use of Q-Pulse, and follow up document acknowledging, deviations from procedure, corrective actions, and new asset updates.
4. Coordinate with lab manager on the validation, certification, calibration or repairs of broad laboratory equipment (BSC/CFH, autoclaves, incubators, refrigerators and freezers etc.), and document in Q-Pulse.
5. Maintain safe chemical waste storage, verifying proper chemical segregation and coordinate pick-up.
6. Review safety showers and eyewashes, coordinate maintenance, and document these procedures in Q-Pulse.
7. Update temperature documents in Sensaphone system and manage alerts. Maintain troubleshooting in Q-Pulse.
8. Assist QA manager in the coordination of the laboratory’s response in the event of foreign animal disease investigations or outbreaks. Organizing vehicle transit for sample delivery, signage and decontamination procedures, maintaining stocks of supplies for regulatory related activities.
9. Prepare clinical pathology samples for shipment to main campus.
10. Assist with tissue trimming in preparation for chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing.
11. All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science degree with major course work in an appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a veterinary or human diagnostic laboratory
Experience with quality assurance systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent multitasking skills.
• Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of veterinary doctors, staff, and students
• Skill in the use of computers and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software packages.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards

* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/laboratory work environment.
* Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
* Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
