The primary function of this position will be to develop, coordinate and implement applied research and Extension programs aimed at managing insect pests of ornamental plants, turfgrass, and forage grasses in Mississippi. The incumbent will work as part of a multidisciplinary team involved in applied research and Extension. In particular, the incumbent will conduct applied research on established and experimental technologies (insecticides, biological processes, etc.), practices that improve integrated pest management (IPM), and develop novel approaches to manage primary and secondary insect pests of ornamental plants, turfgrass, and forage grasses found in Mississippi and the mid-south. The incumbent will incorporate these and other research findings into the development of a statewide Extension program that meets the needs of commercial growers, homeowners, and other stakeholders utilizing appropriate technologies and delivery methods.
The incumbent will develop and maintain close working relationships with growers and other stakeholders, including commodity groups, governmental and non-governmental agencies, plant protection industries, MSU Extension specialists, Extension agents, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES) researchers and others, to ensure that their entomology research and Extension program is focused on the most pressing needs of stakeholders. |

The successful candidate will conduct and analyze numerical sensitivity modeling experiments utilizing the Navy’s coupled tropical cyclone modeling system and other coupled modeling systems to verify against field observations to identify momentum exchange processes that influence tropical cyclone intensity change. The postdoc will be based at the Northern Gulf Institute at Mississippi State’s campus and have access to MSU High Performance Computing Collaboratory supercomputing servers to conduct experiments. The TK Martin Center is seeking a licensed or license-eligible speech language pathologist with experience in early intervention services to support a pilot project at the TK Martin Center and expertise in AAC evaluations or willingness to receive training. This position will have a primary role of serving young children, ages birth to three, qualifying for early intervention services in the state of Mississippi. Children may present with complex communication needs. This role may involve assisting with early intervention assessments for infants and toddlers who present with developmental delays. This position will require intimate work with a multidisciplinary team to maximize the outcomes of children (and their families) receiving services. Trainings may be required in evidence-based practice. Those with experience may also assist with AAC evaluations for the TKMC.
This position will require travel within the state of Mississippi.
If not already in possession, it will be encouraged in the duration of the first year of employment to receive the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. |
