Candidates with measurable years of industry, agency, and/or faculty experience are highly preferred. The Richard A. Rula School of Civil & Environmental Engineering within the Bagley College of Engineering has multiple endowed opportunities (professorship or chair) for highly qualified candidates. The position is anticipated to be filled in August of 2026. While any area of civil or environmental engineering can be considered, measurable expertise in one or more of the following areas are of particular interest: asphalt pavement systems, buried or underground structures, concrete bridges, construction materials, structural health monitoring, and trenchless technologies. The candidate is expected to work with undergraduate and graduate students in and out of the classroom and any tenure track option is also expected to engage students in research that can be published in high quality venues.

| The Department of Biochemistry, Nutrition and Health Promotion (BCHNHP) at Mississippi State University (MSU) seeks to fill a 9-month tenure-track position to begin January 2026. The successful candidate will hold a 70% appointment in teaching through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and a 30% appointment in research through the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Nutrition; graduate programs include an MS in Nutrition, an MPH in Nutrition, a PhD in Nutrition, and a PhD in Functional Foods, Nutrition, and Health). In addition, the candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program in their area of expertise through scholarship, extramural funding, and mentoring graduate students. The successful candidate will also be involved in supporting accreditation standards in compliance with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for the MPH housed in BCHNHP, and assist with the MPH program’s recruitment, retention, and implementation efforts. |

| The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the science and prediction of Atlantic tropical cyclones on subseasonal timescales (2 weeks to 3 months). The project will focus on identifying and quantifying key sources of predictability—including climate modes of tropical variability such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) and El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO)—and leveraging statistical (e.g., Analog) and machine learning techniques (in particular neural networks), to develop subseasonal hurricane forecast models improve predictive models.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of climate science and artificial intelligence in an operationally relevant context. |
