Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Annual Leadership Giving plays a critical role on the Annual Giving team. Reporting to the Director of the Rollins Annual Fund, this position will lead, plan, execute, and analyze fundraising initiatives to optimize the philanthropic potential of the College’s alumni, parents, and friends. The Assistant Director is responsible for soliciting and closing leadership level gifts ($2,500+) from a specific and rotating portfolio of individuals; development and implementation of a comprehensive leadership giving program and will oversee communications and direct marketing solicitations for prospective and current leadership donors; supporting volunteers who solicit their peers for leadership gifts; and managing all efforts related to select Reunion Class giving programs. These efforts are part of the larger departmental goal to create a robust, sustainable pipeline of annual donors to Rollins.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a specific and rotating portfolio of approximately 100-150 annual giving prospects to personally discover, cultivate, solicit, and steward for ongoing annual support to the College. Must be able to travel to engage prospects with an estimated average of 5-6 face-to-face visits per month.
  • Use personal visit, peer-to-peer solicitations, direct marketing, events and marketing materials to secure new, retain, and upgrade annual leadership gifts ($2,500+) to the Rollins Annual Fund.
  • With strong understanding of data analysis and donor behaviors, analyze, assess, develop, and implement fundraising strategies to increase leadership giving donors and dollars.
  • Coordinate messaging with Annual Fund communications to maximize unrestricted leadership gifts via direct mail, email, and phone.
  • Develop and execute marketing plan for leadership giving recognition society to support appeals, cultivation, and stewardship for the Rollins Annual Fund.
  • Maximize impact of leadership volunteer position, National Rollins Fund Chair, to assist in securing and stewarding leadership donors. Explore expanding volunteer base to support peer-to-peer leadership solicitations.
  • Manage all efforts related to select Reunion Class giving programs including recruiting and supporting gift volunteers, and creating and implementing strategies and tactics to reach dollar and participation goals.
  • Work closely with Alumni Engagement to support the Reunion planning process and Alumni weekend with focus on select Reunion Class programs.
  • Partner with Donor Relations office to coordinate stewardship messages and ensure the highest level stewardship is provided to Rollins Annual Fund leadership donors.
  • Work with the Director to develop strategic goals for leadership giving, and work collaboratively with Major, Parent, and Planned Giving teams to coordinate and support leadership solicitations and annual gifts to the Rollins Annual Fund.
  • Remain current on trends, strategies, and services offered by other institutions, specifically those focused on leadership giving programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of annual giving or fundraising experience required.
  • Experience in a higher education environment desirable.
  • Preference to applicants with first-hand Rollins College knowledge and/or experience.
  • Ability to analyze giving data, identify trends and opportunities, and implement solicitation strategies.
  • Demonstrate leadership, take initiative, problem-solve, act independently and as a member of a team, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, including portfolio management, data analysis, volunteer management, and communications.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, good judgement, be creative, self-motivated, and results oriented.
  • Attention to detail is essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with constituent database.
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for Advancement events throughout the year, including Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, and select board meetings.
