Position Summary:

Reporting to a full-time staff member of the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement, graduate assistants will join an eclectic team of educators with collective oversight for 100+ student organizations, including our cultural organizations, campus-wide events, and student funding allocations. This position specifically works with diversity and inclusion initiatives and large-scale campus events, which requires significant collaboration and partnerships with many College divisions.

Anticipated Employment Dates: July 1, 2019 - May 29, 2020.

Anticipated Learning Outcomes: The goal is to provide an experiential learning opportunity that is aligned with the educational program of study.


  • Bi-weekly pay rate of $12.50/hr. over the academic semester
  • $500 meal plan
  • $500 for conference travel
  • Free campus staff parking privileges

Preferred Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Pursuing a Masters degree in student personnel/student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to student involvement, have significant experience in working with diverse populations in a collegiate setting and demonstrate an understanding of student development theory.
  • Possess a background in working with student organizations and faculty and staff advisers.
  • Possess strong facilitation skills and significant experience in leadership education and development.
  • Demonstrate skills in effective communication, supervision, program development with measured results.
  • Demonstrate competence in mentoring students and advising.
  • Demonstrate ability to proactively develop and sustain positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Possess skill in developing and managing budgets and assessment.
  • Have knowledge about and/or experience with student life at a small, residential, liberal arts college with particular attention to the LEAP learning outcomes as outlined by AAC&U.

Education Requirement:

The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program in order to qualify for this position and must remain actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program for the duration of their employment in this position. This experience is intended for currently enrolled graduate students or individuals whose enrollment into a graduate degree program is imminent (E.g. student has been accepted into a graduate degree program and is awaiting the start classes in the immediate future). Incumbent should be seeking an experiential opportunity in their degree field which may or may not be a requirement for graduation. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a Masters degree in student personnel/student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field.
