Position Summary:

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Rollins, a private liberal arts college in central Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track position to teach French language courses at all levels and other topic courses, beginning Fall 2020. Candidates with expertise in Second Language Acquisition preferred, particularly those with knowledge of pedagogical content development, curricular design, and innovative methods and approaches in language teaching. Arabic speaking and teaching abilities would be highly considered.

Special preference will be given to those candidates with experience in study abroad, service learning, as well as instructional technology in language instruction. The preferred candidate will be able to make meaningful contributions and increase the diversity of the Department´s course offerings as well as across campus programs, such as African Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Middle Eastern and North African Studies, our general education “foundations seminars,” etc. The teaching load is 3/3.

Qualifications: 

  • A Ph.D. in French Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or Second/Foreign Language Acquisition at the time of the appointment
  • Native or near-native fluency in French, English (and Arabic)
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the liberal arts
  • Verifiable teaching experience in the liberal arts
  • Capability to offer courses for heritage speakers and non-traditional students
  • Ability to contribute to, help foster, and sustain a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins
