Summary:

The Development Officer for the Rollins Museum of Art (RMA) will support efforts to grow philanthropic support through direct solicitation of annual leadership level gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grants from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Working closely with the RMA Director and the Associate VP for Advancement, the Officer will manage donor relationships, support volunteer fundraising committees, and collaborate across Institutional Advancement to align donor engagement with broader College priorities. Strong communication, project management, and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising (65%)
    • Manage a specific and rotating portfolio of approximately 150 - 200 current and prospective museum donors. Personally qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for ongoing annual support to the RMA, notably through the RMA Founder’s Square Membership program and the Rollins Annual Fund: Museum Area of Greatest Need.
    • Implement an effective schedule of contacts and meetings; arrange museum visits; and engage RMA leaders, faculty, staff and other Advancement colleagues in museum donor engagement activities.
    • Plan and manage the successful implementation of museum membership solicitations, and stewardship programming and events for members at the Founder’s Square levels.
    • Use personal visits, peer-to-peer solicitations, direct marketing – email, phone, mail, events and marketing materials to secure new, retain, and upgrade annual leadership gifts ($2,500 - $50,000) from the RMA Board of Visitors and Founder’s Square.
    • Work with the RMA Director to develop strategic goals for museum annual giving and work collaboratively with the Annual Giving team to coordinate and support solicitations and annual gifts to the Rollins Annual Fund: Museum Area of Greatest Need.
    • Record solicitation activities, contacts, correspondence, proposals and strategy plans in the donor database, work with Advancement Services staff to ensure proper records administration.

  •  Program Development & Volunteer Management (35%)
    • Work closely with the RMA Director to create and implement strategies for cultivating and engaging members of the RMA Board of Visitors and its committees.
    • Collaborate with the Museum’s Membership Coordinator to provide vision, leadership and structure for the Membership program at the Rollins Museum of Art.
    • Refine and support the Founder’s Square program and its members including directing their volunteer efforts in peer solicitations and stewardship outreach activities.
    • Work closely with the RMA Director to implement recruitment strategies to elevate the overall philanthropic capacity of the RMA Board of Visitors.
    • Work in conjunction with Institutional Advancement staff for key events; actively participate in Advancement activities such as Giving Day, Family Weekend, and Alumni Weekend.
Minimum 
Qualifications & Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year of successful experience in one-to-one leadership-level fundraising or related fields.
  • Demonstrated understanding and successful implementation of volunteer management and solicitation strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Higher education and/or fine arts work experience in fundraising or related Major Gifts/Development fields.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to develop authentic relationships and understand the needs and interests of donors.
  • Interest in all aspects of higher education with dedication to promoting the Rollins Museum of Art.
  • Understanding of a residential liberal arts college and a college museum or ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong decision-making skills, ability to work with confidential information; tact and discretion are essential.

Work Environment:

  • Campus-based, customer service role in an office environment, offering some opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Expectation is three days in the office with two dates remote for employees of good standing, subject to change.
  • Regular use of a computer and databases.
  • Employees are required to use their personal cell phones for work-related communications and tasks, including but not limited to responding to emails, attending virtual meetings, and accessing company applications.
  • Occasional evenings and weekend required for Rollins Museum of Art or Advancement events throughout the year including Exhibition Preview Receptions, Giving Day, Family Weekend, and Alumni Weekend.
