Development Manager

The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially minded Development Manager to join our VIC Development team. In this role, you will manage retail property development projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet program, financial, and quality standards while maintaining vital community amenity.

Your initial focus will be the delivery of the significant Bradmill Yarraville retail project, where you will manage design development, builder appointment, and the overarching retail and leasing strategy. This is a pivotal role for a professional looking to make a meaningful impact on the Melbourne retail landscape.

How you will make an impact

  • Project Leadership: Manage the delivery of major retail developments
  • Strategic Partnerships: Negotiate with major tenants to implement Agreements for Lease (AFL) and manage relationships with approval authorities and potential asset purchasers.
  • Sustainable Innovation: Explore and implement environmentally sustainable design initiatives in line with Frasers Property’s Sustainability strategy and our Retail division’s goals.
  • Commercial Excellence: Prepare and maintain detailed project feasibilities, coordinate leasing strategies and marketing collateral, and participate in value management processes to drive project profitability.
  • Team Mentorship: Foster a creative and disciplined environment, mentoring team members and ensuring a culture of high performance and respect.

 

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who is collaborative, respectful, progressive, and real. You will also bring:

  • Experience: Extensive experience in the project management and delivery of retail property developments, preferably with a major institutional developer or landlord.
  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in a property-related discipline such as Property Economics, Commerce, or Construction Management.
  • Technical Skills: Expert competency in preparing detailed feasibilities and scenario modelling, with an understanding of D&C contracts and AFLs.
  • Mindset: An entrepreneurial yet methodical approach with a high work ethic and high ethical standards.
