About the role: 

The Health and Safety Business Partner ensures that we provide a safe and healthy workplace and sustainable performance through the consistent delivery of health, safety and wellbeing practices in our homes.  

Through effective stakeholder engagement, building capability and empowering local leadership, specialist advice, and coaching, this role is a true partner for our frontline leaders.  

The Health and Safety BP is responsible for a defined portfolio of Residential Aged Care homes and partners with the Regional Manager(s) and frontline management teams to provide timely advice, coaching and mentoring. The HSBP supports the broader Health, Safety and Wellbeing team by participating in working groups as required to support delivery of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy.  

Responsibilities: 

Apply specialist knowledge and technical expertise to:  

  • Coach and mentor Operations and other business leaders in Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW).  

  • Provide quality proactive advice and support to Operations leaders and employees on a range of HSW issues.  

  • Support the effective implementation of the HSW Management System in the homes.  

  • Analyse and report on workplace incidents, hazards and injuries as well as trends in their area of responsibility.  

  • Provide strategic advice and direction on complex claims and safety matters.  

  • Report to Safety Operations Manager on HSW performance in each home and region. 

  • Ensure all incidents are investigated promptly & effectively and ensure appropriate corrective actions are identified and implemented.  

  • Ensure notifiable incidents are reported to the state Regulator and internally as required. 

  • Support the Injury management specialist with early intervention of injuries.  

 

Support continuous improvement in HSW, including:  

  • Deliver HSW training to leaders and frontline workers  

  • Collaborate with the Safety Operations Manager and HSW team to develop and implement evidence-based risk reduction and improvement programs.  

  • Foster a safety culture through role modelling safe workplace practices, such as consultation and identification of workplace hazards and risks. 

  • Support and provide guidance to Regional WHS Committee and WHS working groups at each home.  

 

Foster and maintain relationships:  

  • Maintain positive relationships with Estia Health’s internal and external stakeholders and key suppliers to ensure the effective delivery of relevant health and safety services and supports.  

  • Participate in internal and external claims reviews to support development of strategic and commercially sound plans.  

 

Actively develop themselves and support their team members in the People and Culture team by:  

  • Participating in internal People and Culture activities.  

  • Taking responsibility for their own professional development. 

  • Role model the Estia Principles and Values. 

 

The person who will be amazing in this role: 

  • Will have between 3 to 5 years’ experience in an WHS and Injury Management/Rehabilitation role in a with a proven track record in delivering effective HSW performance results. (exposure to a large and geographically dispersed organisation is preferable)  

  • Demonstrated customer focused mindset and approach to problem solving.  

  • Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal)  

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external and internal stakeholders.  

  • High level planning, time management and prioritising skills  

  • Ability to create positive working relationships and influence across a broad range of stakeholders  

  • Demonstrated capability in interpreting and applying relevant WHS and workers compensation legislation  

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment  

  • Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders and frontline workers to build knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and wellbeing requirements  

  • The role is hybrid and regular travel is required into our homes.
