About the role

We’re looking for a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our IT team and help deliver scalable, secure, and well-architected integration solutions. In this role, you’ll design and build scalable cloud data solutions, pipelines, and models that power critical reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives. You’ll shape our data platform strategy, bringing technical expertise to ensure performance, security, and compliance across all projects.

This role follows a hybrid work model with two days a week in our Burnley office. You’ll have flexibility in choosing your office days, though most of the team typically work on-site on Mondays and Thursdays.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the direction of our data architecture and strategy
  • Design, build, and optimise Azure-based pipelines and transformations
  • Deliver scalable, secure, and efficient data engineering solutions
  • Support AI-driven use cases and advanced analytics
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance standards are met
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to align solutions with business goals
  • Drive innovation and knowledge-sharing across the team

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or IT
  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a similar data engineering role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics
  • Strong SQL and Python programming skills
  • Solid knowledge of data modelling, warehousing, ETL/ELT solutions, and performance tuning
  • Experience with BI data structures (Power BI) and developing data engineering frameworks (profiling, cleansing, transformation)
  • Understanding of data security, governance, and compliance in cloud environments
  • Strong communication skills—able to engage both technical and business stakeholders with clarity
  • (Highly regarded) Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or multi-cloud environments

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications
  • Experience in aged care, healthcare, or other regulated industries is beneficial but not essential.
