Position Summary

MSU is seeking to fill a position of a post-doctoral research associate by June 2025. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or anticipate Ph.D. completion by June 2025) in nuclear theory with background knowledge in low energy reaction theory relevant to the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, including compound and direct reactions, as well as central collisions. Applicants are expected to have excellent research track record and communication skills, as well as experience with writing scientific codes. Applicants that display significant initiative as well as good understanding of issues surrounding diversity equity and inclusion will be preferred. The successful candidate will be part of the reaction theory initiative at FRIB. The appointment will initially be for two years with the possibility of renewal for a third year, depending on performance and the availability of funds.

Doctorate -Nuclear Theory

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in nuclear theory or anticipate PhD completion by Spring of 2025

Desired Qualifications

  • Research record in Nuclear Theory as evidenced by published refereed journals and/or conference proceedings
