The Department of Economics is seeking a candidate internal to Michigan State University to serve as the Chairperson of the Department of Economics. The applicant selected will be responsible for educational, research, service programs, budgeting matters, physical facilities, fundraising, and personnel matters in the Department of Economics, following the procedures outlined in the Bylaws of the Department of Economics. Compensation is at an annualized rate (11/9 of academic-year salary). A term appointment of three to five years is expected. The position entails a significant teaching load reduction. The Department is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service. The search will continue until the position is filled.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Economics or a related discipline
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline with a strong background in economic research, teaching, and service. Candidate must be a tenured faculty member (Associate or Full Professor) with a significant publication record in scholarly journals and have extensive teaching and service experience.
- Applicants must have leadership experience as evidenced by a track record of administration and/or service to departmental, college, and/or university committees or organizations.
- Applicants must have experience working with diverse groups of people.
Desired Qualifications
- Candidates with a track record of collaboration with stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the community) and experience working with diverse groups of people are preferred.
