Laundry Attendant

Position Summary

Assists in the routine general working operation of Spartan Linen Services by shifting stations and working in accordance with production needs; will shake out laundry from washers; loads and unloads damp articles from dryers; shakes out and untangles damp linen; and untangles damp linen; feeds damp linen into machinery; removes finished linen from ironers; inspects, folds, and wraps finished laundry; sorts, counts, checks, and marks incoming laundry; assists in recording and maintaining operation records; performs general cleaning of laundry plant, including restrooms and break room.  

This position will be the primary support for the embroidery specialist and will spend up to several hours per shift assisting in embroidery. They will offer coverage in embroidery on off days of the embroidery specialist.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a grade school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

Frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds is required.

Desired Qualifications

Sewing and hemming mastery is preferred.

This position requires a great deal of account service and computer literacy. Comfort with email communication and proficient knowledge of basic software navigation are both preferred.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday off.
