Position Summary
The Department of Advertising and Public Relations values diversity of background, experience, teaching and research perspectives. We are seeking candidates who are dynamic and engaging in the classroom as an instructor of record. The ideal candidate will have education and experience that allows them to successfully teach a range of advertising and/or public relations courses. The department has ongoing needs for instructors who can teach any or all of the following focus areas: advertising creative for all media types; advertising technologies, including programmatic, artificial intelligence and other existing and emerging platforms; writing and content creation for public relations; social media management; strategic communication; and project management. In addition, experience in higher education teaching or supervision/mentoring of college level interns is preferred.
Qualified candidates will have a degree in advertising, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field. Specific rank will depend on the candidate's highest degree (open rank). Please see minimum qualifications for details. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Advertising, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
Minimum Requirements
The selected individual will be hired at the rank that aligns with their highest degree in the following areas of study: Advertising, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
- Ph.D. is required for Assistant Professor rank.
- Master's degree is required for Instructor rank.
- Bachelor's degree is required for Assistant Instructor rank.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in higher education teaching or supervision/mentoring of college level interns.

The Michigan State University Department of Advertising and Public Relations is a leader in education, research, and outreach. For more than 60 years, the department has set the global pace in research excellence and achievement while also maintaining an award-winning undergraduate program. The Department is comprised of tenure stream and fixed-term (professors of practice) faculty who continue to re-envision the worlds of advertising research, education, and practice.
