The Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is searching for an exceptional leader to guide one of the nation's most distinguished programs into its next chapter of excellence. We are seeking a visionary Department Chairperson to take the helm in August 2025, steering a dynamic community of scholars, educators, and future business leaders. Salary is competitive.

The Department Chairperson at Michigan State University represents the department within the College, the University, and to external constituencies. The chairperson is part of the college's leadership team and is responsible for faculty and staff recruitment, development, and retention, resource attainment, financial management, and stakeholder relationship management. The chairperson manages a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, leading a department strong in scholarship, teaching capacity, and outreach.
The Chairperson will:
- Inspire a Culture of Excellence: Lead a department renowned for its scholarship, teaching, and outreach. The chairperson will inspire faculty and students to pursue bold ideas and innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
- Mentor Future Leaders: Play a pivotal role in mentoring junior faculty and doctoral students, fostering a culture of collaborative research and intellectual curiosity.
- Champion Diversity and Inclusion: Lead a diverse faculty and student body, ensuring that the department remains an inclusive and welcoming place for all.
- Strategic Leadership: As part of the college's leadership team, the chairperson will shape strategic initiatives that enhance the department’s impact, including faculty and staff recruitment, development, and retention, resource attainment, financial management, and stakeholder relationship management.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Accounting, Information Systems, or related
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess a Ph.D., preferably with emphasis in the areas of accounting or information systems and must have a professional record consistent with an appointment to full professor with tenure.
Desired Qualifications
Strong research record exemplified by publications in highly regarded journals, administrative experience in higher education.
