Position Summary
The Veenema laboratory (https://veenemalab.psy.msu.edu/) in MSUs Neuroscience Program &Department of Psychology is seeking a full-time research technologist for one year. The research technologist will mainly assist in wet lab and animal experiments conducted by other lab members. The Veenema lab investigates the neural mechanisms underlying the regulation of social behavior in rats with specific focus on the neuropeptides oxytocin and vasopressin. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting in wet lab and animal experiments; Analyzing data including behavioral videos, digitized microscope or lightbox images; Researching literature in order to maintain a current knowledge of the field; Attending lab meetings and lab journal club meetings.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in neuroscience or other related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience performing basic research techniques and methods including laboratory animal handling and husbandry, behavioral testing in rodents, wet lab techniques (immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization), microscopy; use and calibration of related equipment; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; experience working with potentially dangerous research animals specific to the area of research employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent interpersonal and laboratory management skills; strong verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team as well as independently.
