Position Summary
Assists with and performs routine, semi-skilled maintenance and repair work for the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC repairs and other general maintenance tasks as assigned; repairs floors, walls, ceilings, and other assigned areas; repairs and replaces window and door frames; adjusts and makes minor repairs to locks on exterior and interior doors, including Saflok key system; makes minor adjustments to heating and cooling system; replaces light bulbs, fuses and other minor electrical switch repairs and replacements; assists with cleaning duties as assigned; assists with training part-time team members in maintenance tasks.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Working knowledge of repair methods, equipment, and tools of the various building trades is necessary.
- Two years of satisfactory experience as a Maintenance Worker I or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience is necessary.
- Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license(s) is necessary.
- Supply own tools.
- Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.
Desired Qualifications
Hotel maintenance experience desired.
