Position Summary
Procures commodities and services of moderate complexity within a framework of maintaining perpetual physical inventories in accordance with University policies and procedures. Negotiates, executes and manages complex or large dollar contracts in order to procure goods and services required to support the operations of the University.
Characteristic Duties - Responsibilities
- Processes sealed bids, request for quotation (RFQ) and request for purchase (RFP).
- Negotiates, executes and manages complex or large dollar contracts.
- Initiates and conducts committee meetings for the value analysis of product and service contracts.
- Recommends, approves and monitors sources for assigned commodities and services.
- Investigates, recommends, approves and monitors vendor sources.
- Interfaces with customer base to achieve specification compliance for commodities and services.
- Determines new commodities and service methods for enhanced quality and customer satisfaction.
- Conducts analyses of commodities and services via screening panels, end-user tests, field studies, and/or plant and facility inspections.
- Maintains database records related to assuring compliance.
- Maintains perpetual physical inventory of assigned commodities and services to assure timely order fills, cost controls, and compliance standards.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in purchasing, and/or inventory management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
