Position Summary

Salary: $50,900 - $62,200 depending on experience. MSU Benefits - Free Comprehensive health care for you and your family as well as a 10% contribution toward your retirement; generous sick, vacation, personal, and holiday time. This position is eligible for remote work upon completion of a successful probationary period. Regular attendance is required to meet business and customer needs. 

Hidden Lake Gardens “HLG” is a 755-acre botanical garden and arboretum located in Tipton, MI. As a Michigan State University facility, HLG offers a year-round public conservatory, plant collections, gardens, hiking trails, meadows, and woodlands. HLG strives to connect, engage, and inspire people by the beauty of plants and the natural world. The Graphics, Marketing, and Office Assistant supports Hidden Lake Gardens by creating promotional materials, assisting with events, and providing customer service and administrative support. This role blends creative design work with office tasks in a collaborative, public-facing environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure smooth of fice operations and a positive visitor experience. The successful candidate would serve as an engaging and accessible ambassador of Hidden Lake Gardens and Michigan State University.

The breakdown of job duties are as follows:
40% - Graphics Support - Designing: flyers, posters, brochures, signage, and maps. Using design software (Canva and Adobe preferred). Tracking advertising, and printing invoices.
25% - Office administration - Customer service at the Visitor's Center, answering phones and routing calls, general clerical work, and interacting with other staff.
20% - Marketing Support - Weekly planning with Marketing Coordinator, assisting with marketing planning and execution.
15% - Event and Program Support - Assisting with planning and executing events when necessary. Provides backup at Gatehouse, Gift Shop, and Sky Walk. Volunteer transport support if needed.

Regular attendance is required to meet business and customer needs. This position will engage in high performing, leading edge practices, valuing people, partners and stewardship. Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school such as an Associate’s Degree in Business with coursework appropriate to marketing, graphics, etc; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in sales and marketing strategies related to recreation facilities; booking meetings, events and/or similar unit functions; and department operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid vehicle operators license is required to fulfill the duties of this position. 

Desired Qualifications

A successful candidate would have excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and technical. Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite is preferred. Experience with creating graphics and marketing materials related to public gardens, arboretums, museums, or related non-profit organizations is preferred.

The ability to work well with time constraints, budget constraints, and competing priorities in a multi-tasking environment. The ability to collaborate with others on the Hidden Lake Gardens team to reach the unit's desired goals.

Work Hours

Must be available to work evenings or weekends for scheduled events, classes, and educational programming as scheduled. Hidden Lake Gardens is operational from Tuesday - Sunday, 9am - 5pm. May need to flex schedule for programming needs.
