Position Summary
The Beaudrot Lab is moving to the Department of Integrative Biology at Michigan State University. We are searching for one or more postdoctoral scholars to join us and conduct research on the community and macroecology of tropical mammals and birds. Applicants who contribute to the research group’s variety of backgrounds, opinions, and approaches are especially welcome.
The research group combines observational field data with statistical modeling approaches to investigate questions at the interface of ecological theory and conservation biology. We seek to identify mechanisms that structure tropical communities across spatial scales, understand how tropical wildlife respond to global change, and apply results to biodiversity conservation. The lab works closely with long-term camera trap data from the Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring Network. The postdoc(s) will analyze large spatial and temporal data sets and write manuscripts and proposals. International field work opportunities may be available depending on research focus. The position will begin during the 2024-2025 academic year and is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment conditional on satisfactory performance. Funding is available for two years and additional years of funding may be obtained through grants. Required Degree
Doctorate -Tropical Ecology and Conservation
Minimum Requirements
Verbal and written fluency in English
Interest in engaging in a collaborative research environment
Experience analyzing data and leading manuscript writing
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with remotely sensed data and/or machine learning approaches
Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently
