Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Social Media and Outreach Student Assistant will be part of a team, and responsible for drafting content for the Womxn of Color Initiative’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and others) alongside the WOCI Graduate Assistant and Director. The student will be responsible for advertising events via social media posts with targeted tags and hashtags to reach maximum impact with targeted audiences. This position might also mean that the student will attend MSU RSO meetings to advertise events and personally invite members. This position requires creative writing, editing, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Candidate is preferred to be knowledgeable of written, spoken, casual, slang, humor and colloquialisms in English, but knowledge of other languages that can be used in social media posts for maximum impact are welcomed.  

 

Tasks: 

  • Monitor social media conversations
  • Post events and relevant information on social media channels
  • Repost events that would appeal to WOCI’s audience 
  • Develop engaging stories content across social media channels
  • Assist in the development of content and campaign ideas as needed

 

Hours:  

The person in this role will meet with the WOCI director and graduate assistant once a week and work independently on their tasks outside of the meeting.
