Position Summary
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Analytics
- Design and develop predictive models to enhance decision-making processes in agricultural systems
- Create scalable workflows and robust predictive models for ecosystem sustainability
- Analyze and process large datasets, including remote sensing data, and integrate them into analytical models
- Develop insightful data visualizations, charts, and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making
- Work with SALUS (System Approach to Land Use Sustainability) to run simulations and help develop new modules with another research team
Software Development
- Performs functional systems design, user interface design, and database design
- Develops, tests, and implements complex applications and software development solutions
- On a consistent basis, acts as a resource to other team/section professional staff in resolving data problems
Database Administration
- Acts as a lead in the design, modification, implementation, and integration of complex databases and database support software concerning the resolution of data problems
- Assists application staff with highly complex programming and data problems
- Monitors database applications for optimal performance
This posting will fill three (3) vacancies.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which generally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Advanced Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural and Climate Modeling, Machine Learning or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to data science and modeling. Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Strong expertise in machine learning, model development, Python programming, and advanced statistics. Proven experience in designing and deploying predictive models and scalable workflows. Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques to create clear and impactful dashboards. Experience working with remote sensing data and integrating it into analytical workflows. Familiarity with process-based models and their functionalities is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
