Position Summary
The program coordinator will maintain electronic program files and student records to coordinate student funding, assist with student admissions, create departmental reports, and prepare information for training grants. The program coordinator verifies that students are making adequate academic progress (through Grad Plan/Grad Info) and are meeting programmatic guidelines and requirements.
The program coordinator participates in the development and maintenance of program websites; interacts with other university departments and programs to exchange information and coordinate events; completes project work and troubleshoots independently to facilitate the functioning of the program; co-organizes graduate student recruiting events.
The program coordinator will formally report to the Director of the BioMolecular Science Gateway (BMS). The BMS Director will provide managerial instruction and support and participate in performance planning and annual reviews.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Theory and Methodology and/or a specialization in the designated area of expertise; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web- based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Successful candidates will have experience coordinating events, initiating student funding and financial aid, and supporting academic programs. Prior experience with institutional software such as SLATE (admissions software) and Campus Solutions (Student Information System) is desired.

Special Instructions
MSU strives to provide a flexible work environment. This position can provide a hybrid work schedule, but requires at least 24 hours/week in the office to support graduate students and facilitate events. There will be times when the duties will require that the person holding this position will have to be on campus full time.
