Position Summary
The Lundquist lab group is looking for a Research Associate to assist in the study of plastoglobules and their roles in regulation of photosynthesis.
Duties will include:
- Cyanobacterial growth and handling, including genetic manipulation
- Confocal microscopic investigation of fluorescent-tagged proteins
- Photosynthetic measurements of cyanobacterial cultures and plant leaf tissue
- Mentoring and supervision of student workers
- Detailed recordkeeping
- Regular participation in lab meetings and other opportunities for scientific exchange and discussion
- Writing research articles

Required Degree
Doctorate -Plant biochemistry or related
Minimum Requirements
- PhD in plant biochemistry or allied field
- Proven ability to effectively communicate research results in written and oral form
- Strong track record in the growth, handling and genetic manipulation of cyanobacteria
- Expertise with in vitro protein biochemistry, including purification and enzymatic assay setup
- Demonstrated expertise with confocal fluorescence microscopic investigation of sub-cellular protein localization using fluorescent tagging
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise with biochemical assays including lipase and acyltransferase activity
- Good organizational and time management skills
