Position Summary
The College of Communication Arts and Sciences seeks to hire an Academic Specialist - Advising to work with undergraduate students through the ComArtSci Academic and Student Affairs Office. The position will assist with academic advising, course selection, and connecting students with campus and local resources, and use technological applications to assist students in developing their academic plan.
Position Overview: To provide academic advising and student success support to undergraduate students enrolled as majors, major preferences, and minors in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences.

Required Degree
Masters -College Student Personnel or related field
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in College Student Personnel or related field.
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team and a strong personal focus on advancing the College's strategic plan
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of tact, empathy, and diplomacy.
- Ability to work diplomatically and effectively with faculty, staff, and students, and to use sound judgment.
- Detail oriented with outstanding organizational, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficient computer skills are required in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in an academic environment.
- 2-4 years of advising experience preferred.
