In alignment with the mission, programs and initiatives of MSU Extension, delivers research-based information to program participants through various methods and/or provides support and coordination of MSU Extension programs.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the 4-H Program Coordinator and 4-H Supervising Educator, this is a donation - funded position that manages county level 4-H educational program delivery. The individual will work independently to identify opportunities, community partners, and program content to be delivered to Lapeer County youth.
Duties:
- Works in conjunction with supervisor to identify local 4-H youth development program needs and opportunities that help Lapeer County 4-H attain both short-term and long-term program impact goals.
- Operate independently to deliver 4-H programs that help to build and strengthen the reach of 4-H in Lapeer County to new and/or underserved audiences.
- Provide direct hands-on educational instruction using 4-H curriculum resources to youth ages 5-19. Primary delivery of educational programs will be through short term/special interest programs, SPIN club model, and/or school enrichment programs.
- Provide support to 4-H camp programs.
- Assist with program promotion and marketing to ensure broad community reach.
- Assist with the day-to-day activities and functions of the county 4-H Youth Development Program.
- Gather program participant data as directed to be used in impact reporting.
- Maintain appropriate and required records.
- Understand and support the Children and Youth Institute’s efforts in diversity, equity, inclusion and Civil Rights, including the availability of 4‐H Youth programs and activities, with a special emphasis on removing barriers from participation and reaching diverse populations, including but not limited to race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status or veteran status, socio‐economic class and other human differences.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal, written and electronic format.
- Possess strong organization and people skills, public speaking.
- Willingness to work with and organize small committees of volunteers and/or youth to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to delegate and accept direction.
- Computer skills (Microsoft applications) accessing e-mail, maintain database and web site information.
- Proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, gender, socioeconomic class, disabilities, and other differences to assist with program development and outreach.
- Understanding of and ability to implement Civil Rights principles and compliance standards.
- Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques, which reflect an understanding and awareness of social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served.
- Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to diverse audiences/communities and proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, color, gender, national origin, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, veteran status, socioeconomic class, and other differences.
- Travel in local and surrounding communities and occasional long-distance travel are required as a regular part of this position.
- Transportation is the responsibility of the employee.
