Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Applicant will be responsible for independently conducting research on commercial fruit farms as well as in the lab. Daily travel across Michigan is required. Field work duties include statewide insect monitoring, fruit sampling, and contributing to pesticide spray trials. Lab work duties include sample processing, data management, insect colony rearing, and conducting bioassays. 

Desired Qualifications

Applicant should have experience conducting research on commercial fruit farms, rearing insect colonies, and managing data. Applicant must have a current certified pesticide applicator’s license and a valid driver’s license.

Summary of Health Risks

Wearing a respirator, spraying and mixing carbamate and organophosphate insecticides. 

Summary of Physical Demands

Carrying packages from first floor loading dock to second floor lab space. Lifting field equipment in and out of truck bed.
