Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or on-call position. Provides food service, custodial, general labor or maintenance support for departments located off-campus (outside of the Greater Lansing area) Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Primary responsibilities for the laborer position will include mowing the several acres of grass alleys and lawn areas around the buildings of the Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center.  The position will be required to work in an outdoor setting and require the ability to drive tractors that use a pull style mower.  The laborer position may also perform other tasks around SVREC including: general landscape work, clean equipment and buildings, assist during public field days, snow removal, and agriculture tractor operator work.

Other similar duties as assigned by supervisor

Desired Qualifications

Experience driving tractors and snow removal

Ability to take instruction and execute those instructions
