Position Summary

The College of Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for the Director of Student Access, Opportunity, and Engagement (AOE). Our student support team furthers the college’s core values of student access, professional development, inclusion, and excellence. We provide programming, community building, and academic support as a unit, and through collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to promote both curricular and co-curricular success.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position, renewable annually based on positive performance reviews, continued funding, and mutual agreement.

As Director, you will provide overall direction and management of programming, organize a summer math-intensive program, assist with developing proposals for revenue generation, prepare reports, teach and facilitate orientation classes, and manage team members. You will also collaborate with program offices across the university, faculty, staff, students, administrators, and corporate partners to create opportunities and build linkages.

  • A Master’s degree in engineering, education, student affairs, or a closely related field (required at the time of appointment).
  • At least three years of proven success in management and leadership.
  • Experience designing inclusive programs that strengthen student engagement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Hybrid Work Arrangement

While this position offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement, the expectation is that the successful candidate will maintain a predominantly in-person office presence. Work arrangements will be determined in collaboration with the Associate Dean, taking into account both the employee's needs and the unit's requirements.
